Privacy notice

How we handle personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. Written to be read, not skipped.

Who is responsible

LabourEeze is the responsible party for the information described here. Trading as LabourEeze, registered as LabourEeze (Pty) Ltd, company registration number 2025/334641/07, based inStellenbosch, Western Cape. You can reach our Information Officer at [email protected] or on +27 84 343 0708.

What we collect, and why

If you contact us as an employer
Your name, contact details, business name and what you tell us about the work. We use it to answer your enquiry and to quote for it.
If you apply for work
Your name, contact details, the city you live in and the city you would move to, whether you have a licence and transport, your qualifications and where you studied, your current salary and what you are looking for, your notice period, your LinkedIn profile if you give it, and your CV. We use it to match you to work and to contact you about it. If you are placed, we will need further information to employ you lawfully, and we will tell you what and why at that point.
Your signature on an application
We keep the signature you give us, whether you drew it or typed your name, together with the date and the internet address you sent it from. That record exists for one reason, which is to show what you agreed to and when. We do not use it for anything else.
Employment equity
Your equity status is special personal information under section 26 of the Act, so we treat it differently. You never have to give it and an application without it is treated exactly the same as one with it. We ask because we report on the make up of the people we place. It is never used to screen you out of a role, and it is not shared with an employer as part of your application.
If you agree to marketing
Your email address, used to send occasional news and updates. This is a separate permission that you give on purpose, and it is never assumed. Every message we send identifies us and includes a way to stop it.
Website analytics
If you agree to it, Google Analytics tells us which pages are useful. Your IP address is anonymised. Nothing analytics related loads unless you accept the notice at the bottom of the page, and you can decline with one click.

Cookies and analytics

There is no advertising on this site and nothing here tracks you across other websites. You are offered three choices when you first arrive:

Accept all
Google Analytics loads and tells us which pages get used. Your IP address is anonymised. We remember this choice so we stop asking.
Necessary only
No analytics. The only thing stored is the record of this choice, so the notice does not appear on every page. There is no login and no basket on this site, so that single value is genuinely all the necessary storage there is.
Decline
No analytics, and nothing stored beyond the current browser session. The trade off is that we will ask again next time you visit, because we did not keep a record of your answer.

You can change your mind whenever you like. Withdrawing is as easy as agreeing was, which is what POPIA requires.

Who we share it with

If you are looking for work, we share what a prospective employer needs in order to consider you, and no more. We use service providers to run the website, store form submissions and send email, and they may only process the information on our instruction. We do not sell personal information to anyone, ever.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as we are dealing with you and for a reasonable period afterwards. Applications and CVs are kept while they are useful for matching you to work. Where employment or tax law requires us to keep records for a set period, we keep them for that period. Ask us and we will tell you exactly what we hold on you.

Your CV is stored on Cloudflare R2, which is not open to the public. There is no link that opens it. Someone at LabourEeze has to sign in to the storage account to read it. If you want your CV removed, email us and we will delete it.

That storage sits in Western Europe rather than in South Africa, because our hosting provider has no South African location for it. This means your information crosses a border. European data protection law gives it protection comparable to what the Act requires, and our agreement with the provider holds them to it. If you would rather we did not store your CV at all, apply through LinkedIn instead and it stays there.

Your rights

  • Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy.
  • Have it corrected if it is wrong or out of date.
  • Have it deleted where we are not required to keep it.
  • Object to how we use it, including for marketing.
  • Withdraw a permission you gave us, at any time and free of charge.
  • Complain to the Information Regulator if you think we have got it wrong.

To do any of these, email [email protected]. There is no cost and no form to fill in first.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS only. Form submissions are transmitted encrypted and access to them is limited to the people who need it. If a breach ever affects your information, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
